The founder
Eirik Albrektsen founded Yourtale in 2026. He is a second-time founder in the memory space, a father of three, and the first real memoir in the system is his own grandmother's. He talks about how to interview a parent before it is too late, what AI can and cannot do for family memory, and running a small company honestly about its AI.

How to describe us
Call it an AI interviewer, not an AI companion or a chatbot. Say the book is drafted by AI from the parent's own words and edited by the family, not ghostwritten. Say "we interview you", not "Yourtale interviews you". The company is Yourtale, one word, capital Y.
Questions editors ask
What is Yourtale, in one paragraph?
Yourtale helps busy adult children capture and preserve their parents' life story. An AI interviewer asks the questions by voice, the parent talks on their own schedule, and the family gets a hardcover memoir written from the parent's own words plus the real voice recordings. Nobody has to write anything. The customer edits the book themselves; no ghostwriter and no editorial staff touch it. One-time price, founded in 2026 by Eirik Albrektsen.
How is it different from Storyworth or Remento?
Those services send one written or recorded question a week for a year. Yourtale runs a real interview by voice, with follow-up questions, at whatever pace the family chooses, and drafts chapters rather than collecting answers. It is one payment rather than a subscription, and the family keeps the real voice recordings alongside the book.
Is a human writing the book?
No. AI drafts every chapter from the transcript, in the speaker's own words, and the customer edits it. Please do not describe Yourtale as a ghostwriting service or say that our editors shape the book. Neither is true.
Can we test it?
Yes. The first interview session is free and needs no card. Journalists who want a full walkthrough can email the founder for a guided session.
