About

We help you keep your parents' story.

Yourtale is for adult children who have the money and the will to preserve a parent's life story, and no time to do it themselves. The parent does the talking, by voice, on their own schedule. We turn it into a hardcover book and a recording of their real voice. Nobody has to write anything.

Who we help

Two people, with different jobs. The adult child pays for it and wants the story kept while it can still be told. The parent has the time and the stories, and needs it to be effortless. We write the pitch to the first and design the product for the second. When they conflict, the parent wins, because a parent who stops answering is the only way the family loses.

How we take the risk out of it

1.Voice, not writingAn AI interviewer asks the questions and follows up on the details. Your parent answers out loud, 30 to 45 minutes at a time. There is nothing to type.
2.Reminders on a scheduleWeekly or daily nudges and calendar events, set up for the parent, so the habit forms without anyone chasing.
3.The family can interview tooRecord your own conversations with your parent and upload the transcript. It goes into the same book.
4.A book, and the recordingsWe draft every chapter from what was actually said. You edit anything that is wrong, yourself. Then we print a hardcover and keep the real voice recordings for the family.

Who makes it

Yourtale was founded in 2026 by Eirik Albrektsen. His first company made children's books. This one is the same idea for a whole life: a physical artifact that holds a person's stories so a family keeps them. He has three children, and the first real memoir in the system is his own grandmother's.

We are a small company and we answer our own email. Write to hello@yourtale.art.

What we are straight about

An AI interviewer asks the questions, and AI writes the first draft of every chapter from what was actually said. Nobody at Yourtale reads your parent's chapters or edits them. You do. That is why the price is what it is, and why the book sounds like your parent and not like us.

Questions

Who is Yourtale for?

Adult children who want their parents' story written down somewhere other than memory. The buyer is usually an adult child. The person doing the talking is usually the parent, which is why everything is by voice and nothing requires typing.

Is the book written by AI?

An AI interviewer runs the conversations and AI drafts each chapter from the transcript, in the speaker's own words. The customer is the editor: you read every chapter, change anything that is wrong, and approve it before it prints. No Yourtale employee reads, edits, or ghostwrites the book.

How fast can it go?

As fast as the family wants. Most people do eight to twelve sessions over six to twelve weeks. Interviewing most days, about ten hours of conversation in six weeks produces a depth of material about one person that day-to-day life never does. One hour of interviewing comes out at roughly fourteen pages.

Where do the recordings go?

Encrypted, in the EU. Only the account owner and the people they invite can hear them. We never use them to train models, and you can ask for full deletion at any time, including after the book has printed.
